The Vehicle Detailer is responsible for new vehicle and pre-owned vehicle preparation in terms of appearance conditioning. He/She cleans new cars and trucks for delivery, used cars and trucks for the retail lot and for delivery, vehicles selected for display in the showroom, and vehicles repaired by the collision center. The Vehicle Detailer also clean vehicles for customers who purchase detail packages from the dealership. In all cases, vehicles must be cleaned to Dave Gill Chevrolet standards. Training or other skills development assistance will be made available as needed. The Detailer's work is a restorative art form that brings the vehicle to a peak aesthetic condition. In addition to base-level conditioning, our Detailers buff, wax, shampoo, and apply fabric protection and paint sealant.
The ideal Vehicle Detailer candidate will have an unrestricted driver's license, clean driving record, detailing experience, and a strong work ethic. Dave Gill Chevrolet is drug-free workplace; successful applicant must pass a drug test prior to start of employment.
The following is a representative list of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position:
-- Wash all vehicles thoroughly. Areas of responsibility include under-hood components, trunks and rear compartments, inside gas doors, fender wells, truck beds, tires, wheels, windows, dashes, interior panels, headliners, door jambs and sill plates, cup holders, and under seats.
-- Vacuum, shampoo, and apply fabric/leather/carpeting conditioners as needed.
-- Wax, polish, buff, apply exterior paint sealant as needed.
-- Air dry around moldings and door handles to prevent water run-off and spotting.
-- Apply de-odorizing treatments as required.
-- Document all work activities as required.
-- Maintain a clean work area and properly manage clean-up supplies by keeping them orderly and well-marked. This includes washing and folding work towels.
-- Remove trash from the collision center on a daily basis.
-- Perform other tasks, as directed by the Manager. These may include snow removal, lot maintenance, and portering vehicles to locations off the dealership premises for specialty work.
The Vehicle Detailer is typically on duty two Saturdays each month. Work responsibilities during those shifts include portering customers' vehicles in the service drive and cleaning new and pre-owned vehicles for delivery. Saturday hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. The Detailer is expected to wear Dave Gill attire without exception. Uniforms will be provided after two weeks on duty.
